Praise and Prayer 12/27/09

Praise: We were so blessed to have David Butts teach Sunday School this morning :)

Prayer:
Balch - friend, Paxton, 8yr old, 3rd surgery didn't go well, still has infection growing in the bone, will be having 4th surgery on Tuesday
Buckner - lots absent today, pray for those who may be sick or travelling
Gregory - continue to pray for Chad Griffin, a friend who has colon cancer
Vernetti - pray for family of Hal Miller, who died from cancer on Wednesday, he is survived by his wife Paulette, 2 adult daughters, Hew and Holly and 2 grandchildren, one of which was just born this week

Sunday, December 20th

Prayer Request --

Chad Griffin (36??), friend of The Gregory's was diagnosed in Oct w/ Colon cancer. His wife, Paula said he is doing well with treatments. Please pary for him and his family, wife and 2 grils.

Pray for those traveling this past weekend and this week for the holiday.

Praise --

Leon Philpot, Alicia's dad, doing well after surgery.

NEWS

Monday, Dec. 28th is "$1.00 Hot dog and Coke Night" at the Huntsville Havoc Game -- Please let Amy or Ashley know by next Sunday if you would like to attend. There is no cost for tickets they just need to know how many to per family would like to attend.

Buckners- Dr Kahlstorff, OBGYN in Tupelo, has cancer and is in hospice care; Ms Pendley, K teacher, has cancer but cannot undergo chemo for a couple of months because of a surgery she had to remove a cyst; Luke is traveling to Gainesville
Cottingham - Eric's Dad had a rough week; Deborah has had bronchitis and is having tests to see if she has asthma
Kirklands - niece Britney is traveling
Petersohn - traveling to Charlotte, NC
Vernetti - friend in Louisiana, Sherry Tucker, had cancer in kidney 8 yrs ago, has recently been having back pain, get result Monday to see if cancer has returned
Butts- pray for Ms. Butts to find a job
Gregory - Alicia's dad, Leon Philpot, is having hernia surgery

PRAISE:

Chitwood- Jennifer's grandfather had heart attack but was able to come home

Greenwell - Kathy is doing well after her surgery and was able to go shopping and come to church just a few days after

Gregory - Christina is potty trained

Kirkland - Ashlyn's fever is gone and she is feeling better

Schug - had grandkids Friday night and had a great time

Butts - expecting new grandbaby with son Jonathan

Buckner - Cory Williams is having a high risk surgery to remove his brain tumor

Chitwood - Cousin, Alvin Tucker, needs prayers

Jennifer: Dwight Hill who has localized cancer in his lung is having the cancer removed
Cottinghams: Leiara baptized
Scott: got 2 deer this week, Lydia Ruth got a 7 point buck
Kim: praise God for protecting Jim and Taylor in their wreck, for protecting Zakk's arm that the break didn't go all the way through, and for brining our dog Bandit home (again)

Prayer:
Pam: pray for the depression that accompanies the holiday season for many people; continue to pray for Corey Williams who has cancer.
Kathy: having surgery Thursday in Huntsville
Jim: our youngest son, Zakk, who broke his arm last night and is still in a lot of pain
Michael Thomas: 3rd grade teacher

All ladies are invited to attend a childless day of shopping together on Saturday, December 5 in Birmingham.

Vernetti: daughter, Taylor, traveling home from trip (arrived safely home as I am typing this :) )

Bible verses for Sunday?

Imagine my surprise when I came online to get my BlackBerry loaded up for rapid fire bible verses only to be completely out of ammo. Well, guess it will be from Scott's lips to our bibles tomorrow. Hope to see everyone there and perhaps we can do something special for Thanksgiving in the way of thankfulness for items in our lives!

Deborah - Eric's dad still in hospital; Mackenzie's eye not better and she has to wear an "itchy, smelly, ugly" patch for 3 hours a day :(
